Background:
Rue to this day knows very little about who she is or where she came from. She was left on the doorstep of an orphanage (the Mitternacht orphanage) in Nördlingen, Germany, with nothing but a black blanket and a necklace with a pendant of two black toe-shoes engraved with the name "Kraehe." Although Rue has lost that particular blanket and was instead given the name "Rue", she still keeps the pendant close. Ever since she was very young, Rue has had an odd connection with birds (most particularly ravens), and often finds a flock of ravens following her.

Rue was given her name by the Head of the Mitternacht at the time, supposedly because she "rued the day that such a disrespectful child darkened her door." (This was because Rue, as a child, rarely followed that Head's strict code of discipline.) At five Rue grew so angry with the old Head that she made the floor underneath her feet vanish and made her fall into the basement a floor below and break several bones. The Head, although claiming it was just a loose set of floorboards, nonetheless quit her job at the Mitternacht after the incident and never returned. Rue has made several other things happen accidentally out of uncontrolled anger, but likewise were named as accidents.

When Rue first was sent an invitation to Hogwarts, she was delighted at finding a place where she could be known as someone special and grand. When she started at Hogwarts, she indeed found acceptance and appreciation from those around her, yet she still remains solitary and almost untouchable. She excels at Transfiguration and Potions, and generally enjoys most of her classes (with the exception of Herbology, which she has trouble with). But no matter how hard Rue buries herself in her studies and tries to make herself focus on her accomplishments, the name "Kraehe" and her odd connection to ravens haunt her in a way she can't explain...

Personality:
Rue generally is very solitary. This is partly since she prefers to ponder about where she came from and is going alone, but also because deep down, she's afraid of losing love once she's gained it. When she does take a liking to someone (usually if they are innocent and/or good-hearted), she does everything in her power to keep that person's affection, but she usually won't call them her friends, as she sees any weaknesses in her would be exploited. She is quite ambitious, wanting more than anything to be known across the world for wonderful things and to meet one who will treat her like a princess from the fairy tales she read often as a child. Rue is very proud, and is vengeful when that pride is threatened. Sometimes she can be quite mean, whether to her friends or enemies. She is a diligent student and has an enjoyment of essays and written responses many of her fellow students would struggle through. She is very possessive and protective of those she loves. She has a tendency to angst when things go wrong, and unfortunately Rue tends to bring a lot of bad things down upon herself. Despite all of her flaws, she seems nice to most people...but who knows how long that will hold up?

[Dropped] Mytho (magicalmophead): [Status: Love Interest/Friend]
Rue likes Mytho. A LOT. Perhaps it was his beautiful face and innocent eyes, but something about Mytho really seized Rue and yanked at her heart. She sees him as a good person who deserves nothing but love and appreciation, and desires more than anything to be the one to give such love to him and to have that love returned. Unfortunately, her liking toward Mytho made Rue extremely possessive of him, wanting his love to be for her alone, hence why Rue bared her fangs when Mytho first started spending time with Ahiru. Due to Rue lying to Ahiru to keep her away from him, Mytho became slightly less friendly with Rue, but he forgave her for her action...only to get angry at her again when he learned Rue has been spending time with his other side, Kyro, behind his back. Now Mytho and Rue are on better terms after Rue comforted Mytho after he had a nightmare about Kyro taking him over and hurting everyone and after Rue made a decision not to try to pursue Mytho romantically again due to his love (which she thought was reciprocated) for Ahiru. Rue does still love Mytho, but she purposefully tries to hold back any signs of such affection to him and tries to solely remain his friend. When Rue was turned into a child again with no memory of her teenage life by a potion positioned by Mytho, Mytho promised to look after her, and Little Rue gave Mytho the nickname of "my prince." Even now that the potion has worn off, the nickname does accidentally slip out of Rue, once much to her embarrassment and shame (now Rue uses it to tease Mytho sometimes). Mytho and Rue have a playful system of punishing each other for apologizing excessively, which is a tendency shared by the both of them; if Mytho apologizes, then Rue is allowed to pinch him, and if Rue apologizes, Mytho gives a tug to her hair. Rue is one of the very few who knows about Kyro using Mytho's body to sleep with Sengoku and about Mytho's bisexuality. Mytho also was supposed to play opposite Rue in Romeo and Juliet, but since Rue twisted her ankle before the show, they weren't able to act alongside each other. Over winter break Mytho and Rue are writing to each other every day; before Mytho left, he gave Rue a gold bracelet with the charm of two black ballet slippers (a charm similar to the one she has from when she was a baby), and Rue treasures the gift. When he returned, however, Mytho had a mental breakdown, where he forgot the majority of who he was and who was important to him...upon his return, Rue is determined to be with him as much as she can, despite their difference in years.
Rue met the dark side of Mytho and grew an attachment to him after he offered to show her affection where Mytho would not. Rue feels like she should know and love all of Mytho before she truly claims that she loves him. She really enjoyed the evil Mytho's company and is very attracted to him. Rue, upon learning that he didn't have a name of his own, has christened the evil Mytho as "Kyro," which is Greek for "master" or "leader." Little did she know at the time how appropriate the name was at the time, but the darker side of Kyro has emerged into Rue's line of vision at last when she was on the receiving end of his anger and heard of him almost raping Ahiru. Yet Rue still stands firm and says she won't stay away from him...he means too much to her, and she shows no fear to whatever violence Kyro may inflict on her. Rue has forgiven him for the pain he has inflicted on her, but she knows now that Kyro is dangerous and that she will have to do everything she can to protect others from him. She is still steadfast on giving him the love she thinks he deserves even though he will never love her in return. That doesn't mean she'll sleep with him.

Ahiru (sonenschein): [Status: Friend]
Rue at first knew Ahiru as a clumsy girl with a happiness for life that the reclusive Slytherin vaguely envied. Even though Rue knows her well now, her opinion of Ahiru hasn't changed much; she still sees the redhead as a clumsy, yet sweet girl. Rue isn't sure whether to hate her or love her sometimes. She envies Ahiru in that the redhead is able to charm Mytho more than she herself can, and very often thinks bitterly about her despite their friendship. Although Rue loves Mytho and would do almost anything if Mytho could be hers, she now has accepted with a lot of angst and anguish that Mytho cares for Ahiru, not her. That doesn't mean she likes it. Ahiru is one of the few people who Rue has really confided in concerning the events that happened while she was under Autor's love potion and her feelings toward it. Rue then learned of Ahiru's secret love affair with Fakir, which they have been keeping secret from Mytho; although she didn't told Mytho about Fakir and Ahiru out of concern for his feelings, she still was determined that she would tell him privately and seriously if Fakir and Ahiru did not take responsibility and tell him themselves (which they did, though not in the way they would've liked). Rue did forgive Ahiru for keeping it a secret from her and Mytho, however, and now the two are on good terms again.

Fakir (wizard_knight): [Status: Family]
Rue disliked Fakir (or, as she refers to him a lot of the time, "Tight-Ass") for his protectiveness of Mytho, thinking that he shouldn't be allowed to restrict Mytho from doing what he wants to do. For one, it reminded her of how she herself has been treated at the Mitternacht; for another, she dislikes Fakir trying to keep her from Mytho, as she wants to have Mytho to herself. She also disliked that Fakir is so firm on locking Kyro away and keeping him a secret. Even when Fakir isn't putting himself in Mytho's affairs, Rue doesn't really have any interest in being nice to him. However Rue grew a silent appreciation of him after hearing from Ahiru that he prevented Kyro from raping her even if he almost was strangled by Kyro in the process. When Fakir and she were turned into children, they actually got along and played together rather nicely; when they grew up again, however, they both firmly made the agreement that their playing never happened. Oddly, though...upon taking a picture of them together in their younger forms, Mytho and Pique noticed an vague similarity in appearance between the two dark-haired Slytherins... Upon learning about his relationship with Ahiru behind Mytho's back, Rue's respect for Fakir dwindled significantly, but he made up for it in her mind when they worked together to make an antidote for a messed-up potion that had been affecting Ahiru. As of a Parents' Day where Fakir's parents came back from the dead, Rue has been aware that she is in fact Fakir's sister, and was separated from her family when a fire burned down her Muggle aunt's house, where she had been staying in, upon which time she was sent to the Mitternacht. After an episode after the Death Eater attack where Fakir had to pick her up like a bag of flour just to bring her back to his house, they spoke and are slowly starting to get along better. At present, they are not very close, but they are more open with each other and a bit more understanding toward the other's faults which makes them perfectly adorable siblings in the mun's opinion.
Rue's cat Odile seemed, at first, to like to follow Fakir's owl Lohengrin around in hopes of eating him...when the two pets were turned into humans, however, it turned out Odile actually had a crush on the pretty bird, and Lohengrin didn't seem to dislike the attention. Fakir and Rue aren't inclined to let them around each other, though.

[Dropped] Autor (liedohneworter ): [Status: Friend?]
Rue became quick friends with Autor as he spent time together with her, Fakir, Mytho and Ahiru at Ahiru's farm. Autor has shown Rue sympathy and company after conflicts between her and Mytho, and Rue has been one of the few who has shown interest in Autor's research. Unfortunately not talking to Autor about his feelings for her hurt both of them in the long run, for Rue accidentally drank tea tainted with love potion, and ended up sleeping with Autor, who thought she sincerely loved him. Now that the potion is off, Rue isn't sure whether to be upset with or grateful to Autor, for he did give her the antidote to the love potion. Rue hasn't heard from Autor since he left for Mikage's over the summer, and still feels guilt about the whole mess that happened between them.
Rue's cat Odile has a particular fondness of Autor, and likes rubbing up against his legs and sleeping on piles of books in his room.

Autor (book_wizard): [Status: Friend?]
Rue first met Autor during the attack in Hogsmeade, where she helped protect him from the Fiendfyre and a Death Eater. It took them a while to actually learn each other's names, but they now have and Rue sees him with enough respect, though they don't know each other well yet.

[Dropped] Pique (germanwitch): [Status: Friend]
Rue and Pique have only met recently on their journals, but they're in the same year, they're both friends with Ahiru and they both have a passion for the arts, so they're pretty good friends already. Rue thinks she's cheerful like Ahiru and Zack, which she's not very used to, but Rue finds her sweet and trustworthy to confide in, and enjoys talking with her. When Rue was turned into a child, she referred to Pique as "Peekay" and tried to matchmake Pique with her friend Kaoru (or, as Little Rue called him, "Cowroo"). Rue was to play the role of Juliet in Pique and Kaoru's Drama Club production of Romeo and Juliet, but Pique, her understudy, had to fill in for her when she was injured before the show.

[Dropped] Lilie (prettypinklilie krokodilstranen): [Status: Subject of Dislike]
Rue met Lilie briefly during the summer and already knows that she dislikes her. Lilie has an obsessive love of "battles" and is extremely cheerful, both of which are plenty to give Rue no desire to get to know her better. She also doesn't like being degraded, and Lilie calling her "silly" upon their first meeting definitely fits in the category of degradation. Rue is thankful she hasn't had to deal with the blond much.

[Dropped] Drosselmeyer (herrnarrator): [Status: Subject of Respect/Distrust]
After encountering him on the journals and joining his class (Magic in Literature) for her sixth year, Rue gets the impression that Drosselmeyer is a troubled person with a very sadistic sense of humor. His class is interesting to Rue, but the black-haired Slytherin really doesn't like him very much after they had a conversation about the play Swan Lake and made vague comparisons to Rue's situation with Ahiru and Mytho. Rue thinks Drosselmeyer knows a lot more than he lets on, and she doesn't like it at all.

[Dropped] Femio (love_sinful_me): [Status: Subject of Dislike] Rue isn't quite sure what to make of Femio, but she thinks he has a lot of pride and confidence and is extremely self-centered. Rue doesn't hate him yet, but she does find him annoying. Femio remembers Rue for her "fervent gaze" (to normal people, a disdainful stare) toward him upon her first seeing him.

[Dropped] Zack (the_amazing_zax): [Status: Friend]
Rue, as anyone who knows her would be, is surprised she likes a cheerful Gryffindor like Zack. Nonetheless she finds him an unbiased, relatively amusing person, and enjoys talking with him. Zack has comforted Rue and offered her advice when she's been in emotional turmoil, and Rue appreciates his concern and caring even though she is unable to tell him half of the things that are making her miserable. Nonetheless, if anyone can cheer Rue up when she's at her worst, it's Zack. Like with Ahiru, she almost envies his happy-go-lucky nature. She stayed at his house this summer (and was later joined by Mytho) before going back to school in September.

[Dropped] Dokuro (tenshi_dokuro): [Status: Friend]
Dokuro and Rue have been in the same dorm since they first came to Hogwarts, and they get along quite well. Rue finds Dokuro very sweet if not slightly naive, and is a little protective of her if there are suspicious people around her due to her naivety. Rue, who usually is not the kind to like many flying creatures, is quite fond of Dokuro's "owl" (really a bat), Rufus.

Chizuru (_chizuru_chan): [Status: Friend]
Rue first met Chizuru over the journals when under the influence of a way too potent potion made by Autor, accidentally telling her that she and Autor had slept together. After Rue got her mind back, she was very grateful for Chizuru's understanding and advice concerning the incident. She doesn't know her that well yet, but she looks forward to getting to know her better, if all else due to her gratitude for her help. Chizuru also showed assistance and kindness to Rue when she was turned into a child.

[Dropped] Kaoru (kaoru_deviltype): [Status: Friend? as long as he doesn't hurt Pique]
Kaoru came into Rue's line of vision after Kaoru had fibbed to Ahiru about his brother and him fighting off a Death Eater in Diagon Alley. Rue thinks he's over-confident and self-centered, but they do both have a dislike of Fakir and they are both in Slytherin, so they could possibly get along decently. When Rue was turned into a child, she tried to matchmake him with their friend Pique, much to Kaoru's embarrassment. Rue now knows that Kaoru actually has affection for Pique, and has tried to counsel him in his feelings out of concern for Pique and partly out of guilt for the incident she put him and Pique through as a child. Kaoru played Paris in the Drama Club's production of Romeo and Juliet, so he and Rue acted quite closely with each other before the performance, but since then Kaoru has recluded quite a bit and Rue hasn't really spoken with him much recently.

Sengoku (lucky_perv): [Status: Friend?]
Sengoku is one of those who refers to Rue as "Rue-chan" (the others being Ahiru and Yuujiro), and the nickname used to bother Rue...now she really doesn't mind it quite so much, even if she isn't sure why it's used for her. Rue doesn't really look kindly to Sengoku's "sleeping around" (especially since it caused Mytho to lose his virginity), but she still sees him as a good if not exceedingly happy person. Sengoku and Rue worked together on costumes for Romeo and Juliet, and Sengoku, despite Rue's fervid dissent, bought her an amazing assortment of expensive presents on her 17th birthday that Rue has resolved to pay him back on.

[Graduated] Mikage (sacred_delusion): [Status: Friend/Subject of Respect]
Rue greatly respects Mikage, both for him being a good friend to Autor and for being the director for Romeo and Juliet. She thinks he's very insightful, and sees him as a friend.

[Dropped] Yuujiro (western_hime): [Status: Friend]
Rue met Yuujiro during the auditions for Romeo and Juliet, and at first saw his confidence as arrogance and looked down on him slightly. As time went on, however, she found some respect for him, partly due to his flattery of her and his assistance of Mytho with his lines for Romeo and Juliet (Yuujiro plays Mercutio), and now sees him as a friend. Yuujiro is one of those who could guess that Rue is fond of Mytho (of course, Rue being shy about him wasn't helping anything at the time). Rue helped Yuujiro make a green and gold prince costume for Halloween, and they also worked together on costumes during Romeo and Juliet.

[Graduated] Howl (n_arcissist): [Status: Friend] Howl and Rue are both very proud people, so it's not surprising that they get along. Howl, although he is a ladies' man, knows full well that Rue likes Mytho; nonetheless he does flirt (what would Howl be if he didn't?), and Rue doesn't mind at all. Sometimes she even flirts casually and lightly in return since they're good friends, but she never says anything that could be taken too seriously.

[Dropped] Arisada: (eloquent_fiend): [Status: Friend/Business Partner]: Arisada and Rue are the Slytherin prefects for their year, so they've worked together a nice amount. Nonetheless Rue still sometimes doesn't know what to think of Arisada's often mischievous plans, but often finds amusement from them. Most recently Arisada succeeded in interesting Rue enough with his Princess Club for her to agree to be seamstress for them and help make costumes for the club's events.

Jei (jeitaken): [Status: Friend] Rue and Jei first met in the Hospital Wing after Rue fell down the stairs and twisted her ankle before the production of Romeo and Juliet. Despite their difference in age, Rue respects Jei, and sees him as a friend. They've had many an interesting conversation and get along well, though Jei is suspicious of Mytho. Rue doesn't know about Jei's "condition."

Tamaki (foolish_lord): [Status: Subject of Amusement] Rue at first didn't quite know what to make of Tamaki's "Host Club," but upon meeting the naive club "king," she has concluded that it is something to keep her interested. Tamaki, in particular, is interesting to Rue; not only is he exceedingly naive, which Rue contents out of wry amusement, but, were Rue to contemplate, he is quite a sincere, kind person. Even so, Rue does thus far mostly see Tamaki like a kid, and often treats him as such, degrading him somewhat.
